Press Releases For More Information:
Norwalk, CT, Homeowner Benefits From This Old House Experts NORWALK, CT, May 6, 2006 - Kevin O'Connor, host of the Emmy Award-winning television program This Old House, and Master Carpenter Norm Abram will join 50 or so of their team members, including those from This Old House magazine and the web site www.thisoldhouse.com this Saturday to participate in the 19th annual AmeriCares HomeFront Day. This year represents their ninth year of participation. Team members will travel from both New York City and Boston to assist a homeowner who has resided in Norwalk for the past 49 years. The beneficiary of their good works is a senior citizen whose home has become unmanageable given a severe case of arthritis. The crew from This Old House will completely update the bathroom, making it handicap accessible. Among other things, they also will repair a wheelchair ramp so the homeowner can enjoy the outdoors, especially during the nice weather seasons which are upon us, and has an egress in case of emergency. The aim of the AmeriCares HomeFront program is to provide free quality-of-life repairs to homeowners in need. Sponsoring a team is in total alignment with group's philosophy which has perhaps been best stated by Abram who said, "Homes are not just roofs over our heads. They are an expression of who we are…improving and maintaining a home gives us a sense of warmth, stability and comfort. To be able to extend these things to people in need through our volunteer efforts is immensely satisfying…." The project commences on Wednesday, May 3, and is expected to conclude on the official HomeFront Day, Saturday, May 6. ###
